TROY

Male | 1.5 years old | 45 pounds | Medium energy | Great second dog| Good with cats | Could be OK with older kids | From Mexico | Fostered in Hamilton | Cuddly and calm

Looking for a snuggle monster with a heart of gold? TROY might just be your perfect match! This handsome guy recently arrived from Mexico and has been busy stealing hearts ever since. He loves burrowing into your side, under your arm, or anywhere he can be as close to you as possible. He can be a bit of a velcro dog, but with time, confidence, and reassurance, he’s learning to enjoy his own space too!

TROY is a medium-energy pup who prefers rolling around on soft surfaces when he’s excited rather than zooming through the house. He’s a smart cookie with a playful streak—he loves solving food puzzles, working for his meals, and keeping busy with his favorite toys… though he might occasionally mistake your socks for one! He’s still working on his leash manners (so many smells to sniff!), but he’s making great progress.

TROY loves other dogs and takes corrections well, so he’d be happy to have a furry sibling. He’s also cat-friendly—his feline foster sister even gives him affectionate rubs! He’s still figuring out kids (tiny humans in big coats are a bit weird), but he warms up quickly to anyone who offers snuggles!

At home, TROY is a dream. He’s house-trained, sleeps happily in his crate, and has mastered the art of the nap. He thrives in a relaxed household with humans who want a best friend to lounge with. While he can handle some alone time, he’s happiest when he’s near his people.

If you’re looking for a sweet, cuddly, and slightly goofy companion, TROY is ready to be your best boy. Could that be you? Apply today!

LANCE

Male | 1 year old | 38 pounds | Medium energy | Has previously and currently lives with a dog | Has met older kids and was curious | Hasn’t met cats | From Mexico | Fostered in Pickering | Friendly, social & eager to learn | Cuddle monster

This sweet and quirky scruff goes by the name LANCE <3 Looking for a calm and loving family to call his own, this 1-year-old male is truly a gentle soul who adores belly rubs and ear scratches. Oh, and ALL the high-fives! Respectful of boundaries and space, LANCE is doing well living with his foster’s dog, though shows he’s indifferent to them overall.

A bit timid around loud noises and hardwood floors, who can blame him since they are, well, loud and, well, slippery! He’s been busy working on building his confidence and does well with guidance. Here’s the thing about LANCE. He’s a bit of a food enthusiast, and you could say we’re impressed. Of course, it comes with his quirky style; he needs a little coaxing to eat—he’ll inspect his food, take a bite, and then spit it out before finally devouring it all. Yum. It’s just his way of making sure the food’s up to snuff!

LANCE is still figuring out walks. Are they a little intimidating for him right now? Yeah a little. But, with some patience and encouragement, he’s making great progress. Lately, he’s been walking with an SOS alumni and learning quickly! A calm, patient home will be ideal for this scruff, where he can continue to grow and be the best version of himself. Structure that’s built into his schedule is also great, as it helps him understand what’s expected of him.

If you’re looking for a loving companion who just needs a little time to trust, LANCE could be your perfect match. Apply to adopt! FYI, his soulful gaze into your eyes will melt your heart!

FREDDIE

Male | 5 months old | 27 pounds & growing | Medium-high energy | Can be playful with dogs & needs proper intros | No cats please, shows prey drive | Hasn’t met kids | Fostered in Hamilton | Playful & eager to learn

Meet FREDDIE! Active and playful, this lab mix is looking for love and a committed fam to help him grow into his very best self. His exuberant personality has captured our hearts, and we just know you’ll fall for it too!

Speaking of this young scruff’s zest for life, daily exercise and structured training sessions keep him out of trouble. Note that without enough mental and physical stimulation, you’ll witness more zoomies and possibly some rascal behaviour! Keep in mind, he’s still young and learning all the ins and outs of respecting boundaries.

In FREDDIE’s training sessions, he’s been learning leash manners and will continue to learn how to stay calm and focused when interacting with dogs. Redirection and sharing lots of treats for good behaviour go a long way with him. At 5 months old, it’s easy to imagine that FREDDIE is hard at work house training and learning all the rules. A routine and plenty of encouragement from you will help him shine!

What can you expect when you meet him? Besides a big tail wag, it takes this pup a minute to get comfy with new people. That said, in the blink of an eye, he’ll happily approach and engage with them, so you have that to look forward to! Apply to adopt.

*Please note that this pup is new to SOS care, and we’re busy learning a lot about him. What you’ve read is a temporary bio and will be updated as we learn more about him and what makes him unique!

TIN-TIN

Male | 7 years old | 23 pounds | Low-medium energy | Has previously lived with dogs | Some exposure to kids | Hasn’t met cats | From Mexico | Fostered in Toronto | Loves human affection | Curious & quiet

So this is TIN-TIN! 7 years old, and this scruffy little guy is looking for his furever home. Described by his foster family as low to medium energy, TIN-TIN verges on the lazier side. But we’re not judging, of course; we’re just stating facts! As you can then imagine, short and sweet walks are the way to his heart.

What else would make this scruff the happiest? A home that’s quiet with relatively limited hustle and bustle! This scruff has experience living with dogs in a shelter environment and also had interactions with kids there. He’s gentle and would likely be happy to greet young kids for a pat hello as well and will wag his tail in appreciation, no doubt. TIN-TIN happens to be a big fan of human affection and loves getting pats from anyone and everyone. When meeting new people, TIN-TIN shows off his calm, quiet disposition.

In terms of training, this scruff is, in fact, food-motivated, though every once in a while he can be a little picky about what he eats. You’ll get to learn his favourites in time! Think you and TIN-TIN might be a terrific match? Apply to adopt!

TIN-TIN will be attending our next adoption event at Petsmart’s Mississauga Lakeshore location (507 Lakeshore Rd E.) on Sunday, February 9th from 1pm - 3pm. Come meet him and his trainer and see if he might be the right fit for you! Please note that we will not be processing adoption applications for him until after the event.
