TIN-TIN

Male | 7 years old | 23 pounds | Low-medium energy | Has previously lived with dogs | Some exposure to kids | Hasn’t met cats | From Mexico | Fostered in Toronto | Loves human affection | Curious & quiet

So this is TIN-TIN! 7 years old, and this scruffy little guy is looking for his furever home. Described by his foster family as low to medium energy, TIN-TIN verges on the lazier side. But we’re not judging, of course; we’re just stating facts! As you can then imagine, short and sweet walks are the way to his heart.

What else would make this scruff the happiest? A home that’s quiet with relatively limited hustle and bustle! This scruff has experience living with dogs in a shelter environment and also had interactions with kids there. He’s gentle and would likely be happy to greet young kids for a pat hello as well and will wag his tail in appreciation, no doubt. TIN-TIN happens to be a big fan of human affection and loves getting pats from anyone and everyone. When meeting new people, TIN-TIN shows off his calm, quiet disposition.

In terms of training, this scruff is, in fact, food-motivated, though every once in a while he can be a little picky about what he eats. You’ll get to learn his favourites in time! Think you and TIN-TIN might be a terrific match? Apply to adopt!

LOVE

Female | 1 year old | 29 pounds | Med-high energy | Good with calm, well-trained dogs | Not cat-tested, high prey drive | Could be OK with older kids | From Mexico | Fostered in Toronto | Social & goofy

Meet LOVE, a big-hearted goofball from Mexico who's ready to bring joy, laughs, and a little bit of puppy chaos into her forever home! With her social butterfly spirit, LOVE makes human friends wherever she goes! She’s a bundle of affectionate energy and always up for an adventure, whether it's a jog, a long walk, or a play session. And once she's tuckered out, she’s the perfect snuggle buddy, happily curling up for some quality downtime with her humans. LOVE has also mastered several obedience commands under her fosters’ training. She is eager and quick to learn, and highly food motivated!

Now, LOVE is still working on a few things, so her new family should be ready to keep guiding her. She’s got a strong prey drive and can't resist a good squirrel chase, so keeping her focused on walks (and off the treats she sometimes finds on the ground!) is a must. LOVE can sometimes be reactive with younger, higher-energy dogs on leash and tends to do better with older, calmer and well-trained dogs. Her fosters say LOVE typically mirrors the energy of the other dog. Crate training is also a work in progress; she’ll sometimes bark and whine when left alone, so she’ll thrive with someone who is WFH or otherwise home most of the time until her separation anxiety improves.

LOVE’s dream home is with an active family, couple, or individual with older kids or teens who can match her playful energy. She’d do best with a family that’s patient with her training needs, especially in reinforcing boundaries and tackling that love for snack-hunting during walks! While LOVE could be a good second dog to an older, calm and well-trained pup, she would also be great as a solo dog. Training focused on increasing LOVE’s comfort with dogs of various personalities and temperaments is a must. And though a backyard is great, she’ll be perfectly happy in a condo if she gets her daily exercise and enrichment.

If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy sidekick who’ll keep you laughing and loves big, LOVE might just be your perfect match!

LOVE will be attending our next adoption event at Petsmart’s Mississauga Lakeshore location (507 Lakeshore Rd E.) on Sunday, February 9th from 12pm - 3pm. Come meet her and her foster and see if she might be the right fit for you! Please note that we will not be processing adoption applications for her until after the event.

SAIRI - APP IN PROCESS

Female | 11 months old | 40 Pounds (may grow more) | Puppy Energy | Good exposure with other dogs | Not cat tested | Good exposure with dog-savvy kids | From Mexico | Fostered in Burlington | Playful, nervous but sweet

Sairi is a sweet, cuddly, and playful adolescent who’s quickly adjusting to life in her foster home. She’s still a bit nervous about new situations but is brave, and her affectionate nature shines through as she gets more comfortable. Sairi loves people which includes some kids. She is a mix breed, is about 40lbs at 11 months old.

Her ideal day: Sairi thrives on structure and activity. A typical day for her includes potty breaks, walks, playtime, and naps. She’s an energetic pup who loves to run and play, especially if there’s another dog to chase. She enjoys 30+ minute walks at a brisk pace and would happily go on hikes or strolls around the neighborhood. After her walks, she’s ready for a nap, but she’ll happily play with toys or cuddle on the couch when she’s welcomed for some engagement. A great way to use her brain and bond with her is by working on skills.

Good exposure with people & dogs, Sairi has been good with kids, enjoying their company as long as they approach her calmly. But, we know that's not always how kids exist so making sure an adult human is helping manage interactions is perf for setting her up for success. She’s also been getting along well with other dogs she's met—she loves to run and play with them but also respects their space. She’d thrive with an active dog who enjoys play sessions, as she’s energetic and loves company.

Sairi is still building her confidence, so she needs a home that is willing to provide plenty of structure, guidance and learnings. She’s also still working on potty training and crate training, but with consistency, she’s making progress. She would do well with an adopter who is active, loves to walk or hike, and has the time to do classes and bonding activities for her development (and theirs). A family that can continue working on her confidence and help her overcome her nervousness will be the perfect match.

Fun fact: She’s also fascinated by fabric, so if you have a soft blanket or a pair of gloves lying around, be warned—she might just nibble on them!

If you’re looking for a sweet, loving puppy who’s ready to become your best friend with a little time and patience, Sairi could be the perfect fit for your home!

KORI

Female | 2 years old | 45 Pounds | Medium Energy | Good Exposure with other dogs | Dog savvy cats or no cats, please! | No kids | From Mexico | Living in Sharon, Ontario | Affectionate, playful and smart

Kori is a spunky, intelligent, and fun natured gal looking for her family. Since arriving in October, Kori has blossomed into a playful, affectionate companion. She’s eager to please, making her an excellent fit for an adopter who can continue her growth. She's a mixed breed, is 2 years old & weighs 45lbs.

Personality: Kori is independent and smart, with a fun-loving spirit. She loves her daily walks, playtime with tug toys, and bonding with her humans. While she was initially shy, she’s become more confident with bonded people, and her affectionate nature shines through. She’s an eager learner and loves challenges. Kori can be both cautious and bousterious with new people but is learning to engage in a calm, respectful manner.

Ideal Day: Kori thrives on a structured routine. A walk in the morning, followed by play + skill learning exercises, makes her a happy girl ready for some relaxation. She’s perfectly content to chill in her crate or relax while you’re busy but loves to be involved with you when you’re free. A few play sessions and enrichment activities keep her mentally engaged and content for fun rewards.

Other Pets: Kori enjoys the company of other dogs, especially playful and confident ones. She loves to play chase and wrestle, but she respects boundaries well. Kori has a strong prey drive and will chase small animals, so her ideal home would have a dog-savvy cat or no cats at all. She’s also very responsive on walks, redirecting well when needed.

Skills: With guidance Kori is good with housetraining & crate-training, and walks well on leash. She knows basic commands and is learning more each day. She’s still a bit nervous around strangers but improves with positive interactions & instructions that will be handed down by her handler. Kori would thrive with continued  learning and structure in her forever home.

Ideal Home: Kori would do best in a quieter, adult-only home with an experienced adopter. A family with another playful dog would be ideal. If you’re ready for a fun, intelligent companion, Kori could be the one!

Fun Fact: Kori is always game for a good tug-of-war session or a fun game of chase!

Kori is available for foster-to-adopt or direct adoption. She is currently in Sharon, ON and is available for informal meet & greets with her handler to see if it's a good fit. Email adoption@saveourscruff.org to set that up, but tell us a little about yourself and why she's a match for you.

DUKE

Male | ~3 Years Old | 58 Pounds | Medium Energy | Coexists well with other dogs | No cats, please! | Did well meeting dog-savvy kids | From Mexico | Living in Erin, Ontario | Affectionate and loves to be with his people

Everyone, meet DUKE. DUKE, meet everyone. At just about 3 years old, DUKE is an affectionate mixed-breed pooch who loves to love his people. You guessed it - he’s up for the task of being an excellent companion if you’re up to the task of learning all there is to learn about him. This includes learning how he communicates with his body language and is something his current trainer would be happy to help coach you on!

In a way, DUKE is a simple scruff. He loves playing with his ball and participating in a round of fetch. He also likes to sleep and eat. Lol. In other ways, he’s more complex and would do well in a home that is looking forward to implementing instruction from his trainers.

As DUKE is currently being fostered by his trainer, he gets to spend afternoons hiking with a pack of dogs. It’s pretty fun for him! With a medium energy level, DUKE requires an hour of exercise a day, think: a nice long walk and time to play outside. It doesn’t have to be a hike!

In this environment, DUKE has been able to progress with his interactions among other dogs. Of course, his new fam will need to continue advocating for him on a daily basis! As we mention the importance of advocating for him, we should also say that DUKE has a high prey drive and will do best, and needs to go to a home with no cats. Can he live with children though? He sure can! Supervision is, of course, necessary but provided he trusts his leader(s), he will do well interacting with respectful kiddos. DUKE could also live with a 9-5er provided he gets a bathroom break midday. Something to consider!

Otherwise, we can share that time to practice the command place and even having some crate time is important to ensure he’s comfortable in his own space. That said, when inside the home he does like to hang out with his people - so leave time for both!

Anyway, we can’t wait for you to meet him. DUKE is available for informal meetups with his trainer at Paws and Sniff. If you’re interested but not quite ready to put in the application, send us an email stating you’d like to set up a meet and greet and give us some insights into why you’re thinking you’re a good fit for him! Please email adoption@saveourscruff.org to set this up. Please note, DUKE’s current location is Erin, Ontario.

Apply to adopt DUKE today!

Duke will be attending our next adoption event at Petsmart’s Mississauga Lakeshore location (507 Lakeshore Rd E.) on Sunday, February 9th from 12pm - 3pm. ROBBY

Male | 5.5 years old | 26 pounds | Medium energy | Best as a solo dog for now | Hasn’t met cats | Limited but positive exposure to kids | From Mexico | Fostered in Welland | Affectionate & curious | One-eyed wonder

This cuddle bug is ROBBY. He’s a one-eyed wonder who, after surgery a few months ago, is making strides navigating the world with one eye. He has a sweet desire to be around his trusted humans, and for those looking for a loving, cuddly canine companion, he could be your one!

ROBBY’s favourite things include snuggles, long walks, cuddles, sniffing all the neighborhood smells, and snuggles (did we say something twice?). We really love that, through time and patience, ROBBY has progressed from preferring to stay inside to loving his walks, as evident in his major tail wag! It’s pretty cute. He’s also curious in nature and loves to people watch, so this is another fun pastime for him.

ROBBY is continuously working on his training and is progressing with crating in particular. However, this is still a work in progress, and his future pawrents can expect to continue crate training with him. Firm structure and boundaries and supporting him in finding independence will be key to his success! On walks, ROBBY may plant himself to try to extend them and so, naturally, is also working on leash training. Keeping a routine has worked well for ROBBY and his foster, and we definitely recommend this going forward. He’d do best with someone who is WFH or around most of the time.

We think ROBBY would do best in a home with no other dogs right now due to him still relearning to interact with them after having had surgery. Typically, he ranges from uninterested to slightly uncomfortable, which tells us he still needs to work on slow introductions, though that’s not to say he can’t or won’t make good friends with them in the future. For now, he will do best with proper intros to calm, balanced dogs who can respect his personal space.

ROBBY recently met a 4-year-old and did well, so he might be okay in a house with kids with proper supervision and boundaries. Just watch out for those zoomies he gets when he’s having fun and playing!

So! What do you think? If you think you might be a good fit for ROBBY, apply to adopt! He might just give you a big ole tail wag too!

ROBBY will be attending our next adoption event at Petsmart’s Mississauga Lakeshore location (507 Lakeshore Rd E.) on Sunday, February 9th from 12pm - 3pm. Come meet him and his handler and see if he might be the right fit for you! Please note that we will not be processing adoption applications for him until after the event.

COQUIS

Female | 3 years old | 23 pounds | Medium energy | Coexists with dog & cat | From Mexico | Living in Kitchener | Nervous, silly & smart

Coquis is currently doing a confidence reboot with one of our partner trainers, and we are looking for a new placement by February 1st. Ideally, we'd love to find her a foster-to-adopt situation where someone wants to see if she's a good fit as their new pup. A foster home would work too.

At 3 years young, Coquis lived for some time in a shelter setting before coming to Toronto in October. This smol girl at just 23lbs felt a little lost in the city landscape. Indoors was her safe haven and she started coming out of her shell inside only. She thrived with another doggo to play with and learn from. She also has coexisted with a dog-friendly cat and done just dandy.

Coquis also enojoys predictability, so loud noises, unfamiliar sights or fast movements can put her on alert. She enjoys a quieter place to land in her next home. She's currently in Kitchener, ON doing her reboot and so far so good. With consistency, short confidence building drills, structured walks and a bit of fun mixed in.. this girl is warming up in just a few days.

Her ideal next placement would continue her daily routine that involves guiding her to build trust and confidence both indoors & outside. Inside that would look like having her leashed to guide interactions and avoid hiding. Outside, that would look like practicing building confidence (while having fun) by doing obstacles like jumping on structures or rocks, when out for structured walks. She’s caught on well to learning to follow her trusted people on walks, to help guide her through things that may initially startle her.

She needs guidance with most tasks but does take coaching well. She could live with a animal buddy, and is good with a flexible schedule that has times in her crate alone and times with her people. Ideally she'd be outside a major city like Toronto and have areas of park to explore and grow comfort in a new city.

Interested? Reach out to us to talk at adoption@saveourscruff.org or put in a foster or adoption application! We can even set up an informal meet and greet to make sure it's a fit.
