today is the day!
Donate to help dogs and make a meaningful difference this Giving Tuesday

What is #givingtuesday?

Giving Tuesday is a day dedicated to doing good. It is a global movement with hundreds of millions of participants across the world. What began in the United States in 2012 now spans more than 80 countries. Though generosity is a movement we can embrace every single day, Giving Tuesday comes around once a year on the final Tuesday in November. This year, that’s Nov. 28, 2023. Anyone can take part in Giving Tuesday. To get involved, charities, non-profits, small businesses, community groups, individuals, families (the list goes on) set up their own campaigns to meet goals toward making a difference. Giving Tuesday is a reminder of the good in people and the strength of community as we rally together for a cause.

Save Our Scruff is a registered charity dedicated to rescuing and rehoming dogs in need. We believe that every dog deserves a chance at happiness, love, and safety – no matter their breed, size or age. Through generous donations like yours, we are able to continue our mission of giving every dog a second chance at life. Every dollar you donate directly impacts the lives of the dogs in our care.

In 2024 so many dogs will continue to depend on organizations like Save Our Scruff to help them, and your donation helps provide stability not only to dogs in our care but to our partner organizations as well.  The more money we can raise the more effective resources we have to help dogs.

We’re encouraging donations all month long! Give prior to November 27th and be entered into a draw to win an exciting scruff themed prize pack!

*All donations will receive an immediate tax receipt.

HERE ARE A FEW WAYS YOUR GIFT CAN SUPPORT DOGS

Shelter Care

Rescue or shelter care is a way to provide stable support for dogs in need. This typically includes shelter, food, and safety. Dogs may spend days, months or years in care.

Veterinary care

In order for dogs’ next steps to be determined, they undergo a medical assessment to determine a health plan. That could include medication, tests, surgery, or all of the above.

Transport

Many organizations work together to transfer dogs to places they will have the best opportunity to find a home. This could be by plane or car. On average flight costs per dog range from $100-$350+.

Foster Care

When suitable homes are available, dogs can find comfort in foster homes over living inside shelters. Organizations are responsible for everything from $10 supplies to $500+ training plans.

Spay & Neuter

All dogs that go through rescue care get spayed or neutered to avoid the continuation of pet overpopulation. And one surgery can prevent 1000’s of homeless animals.

Outreach programs

For situations where dogs don’t need to be rehomed, there may be opportunities to help them where they’re at. Some examples include spay/neuter clinics, meal or supply handouts or in-between supports catered to situational needs.

By donating on Giving Tuesday, you are not only helping dogs in need, but you are also joining a global movement of kindness and generosity.
