HELP DOGS IN NEED
Save Our Scruff does whatever we need to do in order to make sure our dogs are living a healthy, happy life. Unfortunately, that can come with a very large price tag. Please consider helping one of our pups below so that we can bring in & rescue other dogs in need.
$4025 NEEDED for board & train
FROM OTTO, HER PUPPY’S PERSPECTIVE:
My mom brought me over to Toronto in her belly with my 6 siblings.
Right around Christmas 2018, my mom was living on the streets of Manitoba, pregnant, in at times -40 degree weather. Luckily, before we were born, a nice organization called Norway House found her and was able to take her into care, as Save Our Scruff agreed to support her long-term. My mom flew all the way to Toronto with me and my siblings in her belly, keeping us warm and protected. She carried us safely to term where she then nurtured us for the first 8 weeks of our lives. At that point, we were ready to find our own second chance and myself and my siblings found our forever homes. Our Mom was supposed to go up for adoption as well, but since she was now able to live a normal life again, sans pups, it became apparent that she had a lot of insecurities. My mom was put into training to help her feel more comfortable in her surroundings and is still working really hard to get better through human leadership, stability and support. .
Just because I’m cute and adopted doesn’t mean the story ends. Please help my Mom get the love and care she deserves, just as she did for me. I’m one of the lucky ones, let’s make her one too.

Mr T was a dude we met in Mexico in September 2018. He came to Backstreet Dogs looking like concrete so when we met him, although he was rough, he was progressing amazingly with the care and attention he had received from such kind rescuers. Fast forward to February 2019, when SOS came back to visit, we noticed Mr T was in worse shape than before. We learned from his rescuers that they had done as much work as could be done at the shelter, but that they believed the sun at the shelter was not allowing him to heal properly, along with other factors like he was not taking to the food they buy and that he just generally was stressed at the shelter and it was showing on his appearance. Unfortunately, a long-term residence like Mr T already creates many financial concerns for a rescue that is strictly run from donations, and it was explained that the rescue was unable to provide him with more intensive care due to financial restrictions. This is a very real reality for our international partners who do not have a stable income and also have so many unexpected expenses that arise from things like dogs being abandoned at the shelter and global sicknesses that affect the entire shelter at times.
So, SOS did what we thought was right and left the shelter that day with Mr T so that we could set him up to be boarded at the vet to receive special care. Getting him out of the sun for one was needed, but also having him at the vet meant we could get him set up with frequent medicated baths as well as a full exam.
Mr T is doing GREAT! He loves his bath massages (body looking like milk) and has taken a love to special dietary food that he will likely be on for life. His life is less stressed as a senior, being able to enjoy his calmer downtime being exposed to less stimulation than when he was at the shelter. We can’t wait for Mr. T to be ready to fly, but he still has a few months to continue gaining weight, healing his skin, growing hair and gaining general health.
Please send positive vibes his way!

On intake poor Timber had green thick discharge coming out of his nose; was wheezing and having trouble breathing; vomiting and diarrhea. Once examined we also discovered that he had a very high fever and was very sore when his belly was touched. Due to how sick he was, he was sent to CTVRC for 24 hour care. He spent a total of 8 days in ICU and was in worse shape from when he arrived. With his foster by his side; Timber crossed the rainbow bridge.

$7000 needed for DENTAL SURGERY & BLADDER STONES
This tiny girl with the big ears came into our care with a broken jaw due to dental disease, plus some bladder stones - ouch! We successfully dissolved the bladder stones with meds and diet, but Charlotte needed to visit a dental specialist for her jaw to be repaired so she can live a happy and pain free life.

When Bonito first came to us, he needed a lot of help. He has severe chronic airway disease, and he has had multiple vet, specialist visits and treatments, including x-rays, CT scans, and more. He is now doing a lot better, but all of the treatments can get costly!

$3750 needed for training
Lucky isn’t feeling so lucky. He’s in training right now for behaviour that he developed through no fault of his own. He’s been failed by humans. Pretty unfair right?
It’s so easy to turn a blind eye when a dog isn’t sitting in a shelter anymore. Unlike medical issues that make people feel good to donate money for, people still subconsciously blame the dog when he needs training. Please consider donating to this guy's training and give him the chance he deserves!

$8125 NEEDED FOR TRAINING
This cute pup came to us extremely nervous and shy and needed some extra help to make her transition to Canada a little less stressful. Our amazing trainers have been working with her and it won’t be long till she’s rolling down the street, laid back with her mind on her kibbles and her kibbles on her mind.
